DNA/RNA sequencing
Once the DNA or RNA library is ready, we are almost ready to sequence. We only need to introduce our library into the MinION sequencing platform: the flow cell.
Loading the library into the flow cell.
A Nanopore flow cell is basically an arrayed sensor chip which contains multiple protein nanopores embedded into an electrically-resistant polymer membrane. For more information about how nanopore sequencing works, visit ONT website: link.
After a proper preparation of the flow cell (see loading protocol), our DNA or RNA library can be simply loaded through the SpotON sample port with a micropipette (see pictures to the right).

Setting sequencing parameters
MinION Mk1C enables to set and control the sequencing parameters by a user-friendly touch screen. In OmiBox, Mk1C is plugged in the portable power station while sequencing, so that we can either complete the sequencing at the same place or move our equipment into the next sampling area.
